Theoretical Predictions
Theoretical work on boron nitride nano tubes dates back to the mid-1990s. In 1994, theoretical studies by Rubio, Corkill, and Cohen predicted that boron nitride could form nanotubes similar tocarbon nanotubes.
1995
First Synthesis
BNNT was first synthesized in 1995 by Chopra et. al. at an experimental scale using the arc discharge method
Alternative Synthesis Methods
Thermal Plasma Method
Over the years, researchers developed alternative methods for synthesizing BNNTs, such as chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and ball milling.
